The Columbia Glacier has retreated by more than 1.5 km in the past 125 years, losing more than half of its ice volume. 

In recent years, it has been observed to have retreated by as much as 20 m per decade. 

If this pace continues, it is warned that the glacier could disappear within the next 25 to 35 years.

"waterfowl lakes" (plural) describes any lake or pond that attracts ducks and other birds, providing habitat and food for them.

Ironically, I didn't take any photos of the birds there.

Formed by meltwater from the surrounding glaciers, it is a spectacular spot to view the Canadian Rockies, shining emerald green.
