I Go To Shuri Castle #2

The last time when I stood in front of this Shureimon was almost half a century ago.

I was a college student at that time.

The memory of the gate slightly remains in the corner of my brain. Yes, just slightly does.

It is said that a large fire broke out and burned down the Seiden of Shuri Castle, the main hall, and also the Hokuden and Nanden, adjacent buildings to the north and south on the morning of 31 October 2019.

I hope reconstructions of the castle go well and complete as they planned.

I Go To Shuri Castle #1

The gates and various buildings were painted in red with lacquer.

The walls were also colorfully decorated, and roof tiles were made of Ryukyuan tiles.

It is said that Shuri Castle was operated not only as a base of political and military control, it was also regarded as a central religious sanctuary of the Ryukyuan people.

I Go to Tamaudun, Dynasty Tombs in Okinawa

There were many unfamiliar plants near the historical dynasty tombs.

It is said that seventeen of the 19 kings of the Dynasty who ruled between 1470 and 1879 are entombed at Tamaudun, along with various queens and royal children.

I Go to Mangrove Forest Park in Shimajiri, Okinawa Prefecture

Mangroves are salt-tolerant trees and are adapted to live in coastal conditions.
It is said that they contain a complex salt filtration system and a complex root system to cope with saltwater immersion.
You can see lots of them at Shimajiri Mangrove Forest Park in southen part of Miyakojima island.
The park looked very similar to Everglades National Park where we had once visited in the States.
