The vibrant orange rocks scattered along the coastline of Freycinet National Park are colored by lichens.

The reason they are orange is that the lichens attached to the surface of the rocks appear a fiery orange.

Lichen: A hybrid colony of algae or cyanobacteria living symbiotically among filaments of multiple fungus species, along with bacteria.

Freycinet National Park is a national park on the east coast of Tasmania, 125 kilometres northeast of Hobart. 

It occupies a large part of the Freycinet Peninsula and is Tasmania's oldest park founded in 1916.
