MAHORON / Fukushima Cultural Property Center Shirakawa Branch

MAHORON is an experiential field museum where visitors can "see, touch, think, and learn" through exhibits and hands-on activities.

It opened in 2001 as a facility dedicated to housing and preserving artifacts excavated from archaeological sites, as well as utilizing these valuable cultural assets.

This site has been reconstructed based on the remains of an iron-smelting furnace discovered at an archaeological site in Minamisoma City. It features a foot-operated bellows used to supply air to the furnace.

Komine Castle

Komine Castle is a Japanese castle located in what is now the city of Shirakawa, southern Fukushima Prefecture.

The castle is one of the 100 Fine Castles of Japan, and in 2007 was designated a National Historic Site.

I Go to Historic Villages of Gokayama

The Historic Villages of Shirakawago and Gokayama are one of Japan's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. 

The cultural property consists of three historic mountain villages, stretching across the border of Gifu and Toyama Prefectures. 

My wife and I stayed almost whole one day from the morning to the evening at Gokayama village. 

The Gokayama literally "Five Mountains" in Japanese, is located in Toyama Prefecture.
