Utsunomiya Animation Festival 2018

This year's animation festival was held  just next to my condominium the other day.

Many young girls and boys wore animation character costume.

They were called cosplayer in Japanese; that is the word of combination of 'costume' and 'player.'

I took some snap shots and short videos on my way back home from a tennis court.

Needless to say their clothes were well prepared, their postures and facial expressions seemed far better than B-class movie stars.

When I was taking their pictures, I thought, they were able to become professional actors or actresses.

Anime-painted cars were on display in Banba square for the festival days.

Car owners from nearby prefectures came to the festival site.

They enjoyed talking and boasting with buddy geeks about their elaborately decorated cars.

It's sometimes hard to tell their gender in their costume.

Utsunomiya Animation Festival 2015 Part-1

Utsunomiya Animation Festival 2015 was held last month.

Many animation fans wearing their favorite animation character's clothes took part in the festival.

They loved to be a photo model.
When people asked to take their pictures, they were willing to hold a pose which, they thought, was sure to be the best shot.

On the day, every participant was able to become their favorite animation character, at least they believed so.

“Tochiotome25” is the name of a Utsunomiya idol girl group.
The average age of them is said to be sixteen.

The group is not so famous as AKB48, but the group members have a lot of fans locally.

They sang several original songs with powerful dancing at the Orion Square stage on the Animation Festival day.

Akihabara is a district in Tokyo where many obsessive animation, manga, and video game fans are known to gather.

Orion Square in Utsunomiya city became a little Akihabara on the day of Animation Festival.

Utsunomiya Animation Festival

Animation Festival was held in my city Utsunomiya today.

As a part of the festival, animation painted cars and animation geeks came not only from all over our prefecture but also even from neighboring prefectures.

Some people wore animation heroes' costumes, danced to the music and were walking along the streets in their own 'cosplay' clothes.

It's really fun to watch those cars and the participants.
