Situated on Pensacola Bay, which connects to the Gulf of Mexico, it is a military and port city with many naval facilities, including Pensacola Naval Air Station, often referred to as the "cradle of naval aviation."
It is also a tourist and resort city known for its historical buildings and white-sand beaches.
This bronze statue is a memorial to the Spanish explorer Tristan de Luna y Arelleho, located in Plaza de Luna in Pensacola.
