Leaving San Francisco for Austin, Texas

Having a transient stay for several hours in San Francisco, I flew to Austin to attend business meetings scheduled only for two days.

I always think that company should offer its employee business class seats rather than economy.

Twelve hour jet lag and a small seat are sometimes a kind of torture for a short term, only six days, travelers. But, it is true that I enjoyed view from airplane windows a lot.

Scenery of North American Continent

The last time I came to San Francisco was almost 25 years ago.

I was working for Nikon and visited its San Francisco branch at that time.

The only memory of sightseeing was visiting Fisherman's Wharf area.

I ate soft shell crabs at a restaurant there.

That delicious food became one of my forever unforgettable memories.

View from an Airplane Window

Just one hour before the sunset, the airplane I boarded took off from Tokyo Haneda International airport.

The airplane was heading for San Francisco; I could see an orange colored beautiful Mt. Fuji. from the plane.

Boeing 787-9 plane had electronic curtains for cabin windows, so the color of the pictures were slightly tinted.

I See the Blood Moon

I saw a total lunar eclipse from home the other day.
It is said that a total lunar eclipse takes place when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon and covers the Moon with its shadow.
When this happens, the Moon can turn red, earning it the nickname of Blood Moon.

The pictures are not clear enough, though I enjoyed watching changes of the shape and colors during the show lasting only a couple of hours.

Cloud Covers Snow Capped Utsunomiya City

I have just recovered from influenza, having been sick for nearly one week.

That means I stayed home and did not go to my office for work. Yes, that's right.

All things what I did for the week were just visiting a clinic and taking some pictures of snow and fog covered town scenery.

View of the Empire State Building from Wolcott Hotel

On a rainy day,
Looking up to the sky from the window at Wolcott Hotel in the morning, I imagined a musical title 'Singing in the Rain.'

I checked it on the web; it was Hollywood, not New York City.

My image of the musical was definitly N.Y.C.

It's not bad walking in the rain in New York City.

Regardless of the weather, the building was iluminated everyday with different color, green, blue, red, or their mixture at night.

It was another fun to see the iluminated building at night.

People on the Observation Deck of the Empire State Building

We can see 360-degree panorama view from the 86th Floor Observation Deck of the Empire State Building.

It is sometimes more interesting to see people there than to see wide view of the Manhattan island.

You can see Central Park, The Hudson River and East River, The Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, The Statue of Liberty from the deck.

Wolcott Hotel in the Morning

We ate light complimentary breakfast, coffee and muffin, at the hotel lobby looking at sightseeing leaflets, wondering if where we were going every morning.

After breakfast at the hotel lobby, we came back to our room, prepared for a day visit.
These beds were rather small in the States. The size of them was almost as small as Japanese hotel's bed size. They were enough for us, as a matter of course.

The pictures bellow are posted on the web, 'Booking.com.'

Night View from The Top of The Empire State Building

Today is the last day of year 2017.

Looking back to this year, it reminds me of lots of things that happened to me and things that I had done by myself.

A business project that I have been doing with my colleagues over three years is gradually bearing fruits this year. It will be completed next year 2018. I feel very happy about it.

For our family holidays, my wife and I went to overseas trips twice, U.A.E. and U.S.A. We were able to spend wonderful days and had unforgettable precious experiences.

Finally, I was able to celebrate my mother's 91st birthday and attend 13th anniversary of my late farther's memorial day in my home town Shimane prefecture. Those are also memorable great events to me.

Anyway,  thanks for reading this blog. I wish all visitors to my blog that the year of 2018 be a very very happy and wonderful one.
